Geneva, 31 October 2007 – The Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, will participate in a press conference to launch the Synthesis Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in Valencia, Spain, on 17 November, the last day of the IPCC 27th Session.
Geneva, 18 October 2007 – The Synthesis Report forms the final part of “Climate Change 2007”, the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report. Earlier this year, the IPCC released the other three reports: “The physical science basis” (February 07); “Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability” (April 07); “Mitigation of Climate Change” (May 07).
Geneva, 21 March 2007 – The Working Group II contribution to the “Climate Change 2007” Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will be presented to the press in Brussels on 6 April 2007. Additional press briefings focusing on specific impacts at the regional level will follow in various locations around the world starting from 10 April.

Prof. Bolin had a distinguished career having been appointed as Professor of Meteorology at Stockholm University in 1961. In 1974 he organized the first international conference for the formulation and development of a World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) which took shape and was launched in 1980. Between 1985 and 1986 he served as Chairman for the ad hoc committee which proposed the initiation by the International Congress of Scientific Unions (ICSU) the International Geosphere Biosphere Programme (IGBP), a study of global change, which was launched by ICSU in 1986. Geneva, 22 January 2007 – The Summary for Policymakers of the first volume of “Climate Change 2007”, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) new assessment report, will be released on 2 February in Paris.
