Special Report on renewable energy sources and climate change mitigation (SRREN)

New York, 28 June 2011 – The potential of renewable energy for securing future global energy supply and to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions is assessed in this report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which was prepared by over 130 lead authors working with the IPCC. The report looks at the potential of six renewable energy technologies and how to integrate them into present and future energy systems, along with costs and implications for sustainable development.
