Scoping Meeting of the Special Report on Climate Change and Cities

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change will be holding a scoping meeting for the Special Report on Climate Change and Cities from 16 to 19 April 2024 in Riga, Latvia. Over 140 experts from about 65 countries will be working on the draft outline of the Special Report to be considered by the Panel at its next Session scheduled for the end of July 2024.

IPCC experts attending the meeting will be taking part in various outreach events during the duration of the scoping meeting. More details are here.

Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony was held on 16 April 2024 from 09.00 a.m local time. The following people are expected to address the delegates:

  • Mr Kaspars Melnis, Minister for Climate and Energy, Republic of Latvia
  • Jānis Lange, Riga City Executive Director, Riga City Council
  • Ms Emīlija Roberta Eglīte, Youth Representative from Latvia
  • Mr Jim Skea, Chair of IPCC
