Kate Johnson provides web development and support services for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III Technical Support Unit (TSU). Kate has worked with the NOAA TSU’s web team to build websites for a variety of reports including the Fourth and Fifth US National Climate Assessments and NOAA’s State Climate Summaries. Kate has also contributed to the development and user support of assessment collaboration web applications and tools.

Kate is employed by NC State University’s North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies (NCICS), which is co-located with NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information in Asheville, North Carolina. She joined the TSU in August 2016, and is one of several NOAA TSU staff who are supporting the WGIII TSU.

Kate has a background in Geography, and also contributed in the role of GIS Specialist for the Fourth and Fifth National Climate Assessments, where she provided support for GIS analysis and mapping on a variety of figures. Kate also developed many of the web maps used in the Fourth National Climate Assessment.

Kate holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Connecticut, a GIS Certificate and MA in Historical Archaeology from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and a BA from the University of Rhode Island with a double major in Anthropology and Art History.
