Katja Mintenbeck is Director of Science at the Working Group II Technical Support Unit in Bremen. She has expertise in the impact of environmental changes on marine living communities, with a particular emphasis on Southern Ocean communities. She holds a PhD in marine biology and has been working in different departments at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research for many years.

Katja’s research focuses on the impact of disturbances and fisheries on fish and benthos communities, food web structure and stability, the impact of climate change on communities and the vulnerability of key fish species. Because of her expertise, Katja is particularly engaged in the development of the Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC).
