Tom Maycock

Tom Maycock is the Science Writer and Senior Editor for the WGI TSU. He works to enhance the clarity, accuracy, and consistency of the AR6 WGI report, including the chapter Executive Summaries and Frequently Asked Questions, the Technical Summary, and the Summary for Policymakers. Tom also works with the TSU Operations Team to support report production activities.

Tom is also on staff at North Carolina State University’s North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies in Asheville, NC, USA, where he is a science writer and editor with NOAA’s Assessments Technical Support Unit and serves as the Institute’s Science Public Information Officer.

Tom has served as science editor for the IPCC Special Report on 1.5°C of Global Warming and a science editor, the Third and Fourth U.S. National Climate Assessments, the U.S. Climate and Health Assessment, and the North Carolina Climate Science Report. He holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in physics and English literature from Northwestern University and a Master of Liberal Arts and Science degree from the University of North Carolina Asheville.
